The Antichrist is the most feared figure in the Abrahamic religions, and Baal Kadmon's 2020 study traces the idea from its earliest layers to modern speculation. Chapters cover the origin of the word and idea, whether the Antichrist is a person or an idea, and the Jewish origins of both Antichrist and Beast: the Book of Daniel, other Old Testament texts, the Dead Sea Scrolls, apocryphal and pseudepigraphal literature, and Armilus in Jewish eschatology. The Christian reception follows in the church fathers and the various types of antichrists in the Judeo-Christian tradition, with the names and titles of the Antichrist collected and the Whore of Babylon and the Beast treated together. A chapter on the Antichrist figure in Islam precedes coverage of those considered to be the Antichrist in modern times and the Nostradamus predictions. A study title rather than a ritual one, it is the eschatology companion to the author's Melchizedek and Moloch books.
