Islam counts ninety-nine names of God, each naming a divine quality, and Baal Kadmon's The 99 Names of Allah: Acquiring the 99 Divine Qualities of God turns them into a contemplative and working practice. After an introduction and a chapter on the significance of the 99 names in Islamic tradition, the book's core is the invocation chapter, which presents the names as qualities the practitioner can acquire rather than merely venerate: mercy, strength, light, and the rest of the classical list. Kadmon writes from outside Islam with respect for the material, treating the names as part of the same Abrahamic name-mysticism his Sacred Names series traces in the Hebrew tradition, and the volume sits naturally beside his 72 Names books. At 188 pages it is among his longest works. Readers interested in the shared monotheist science of the divine names will find the Islamic branch documented and made usable here, first published in 2015. First published in 2015 by the author.
