Baal Kadmon's Jesus Magick makes the most-followed figure in Christianity into a working magical presence, in the second of his Bible Magick books. The historical chapters set the stage: messianic fervor in first-century Judea, the nativity, the title God's Only Son, magick in the Bible, and the case for Jesus the magician as the gospels present him. The practice half begins with what the reader will need and purification, then gives the workings: banishing fears and situations that no longer serve, self-empowerment, the power baptismal, initiation into humility, gratitude and power, and manifesting the heart's desires. Kadmon treats Jesus as a master magus whose power can be approached in ritual, an angle that mainstream Christian practice does not take and that folk-magick traditions always have. The book stays close to its sources and its own stated purpose. Readers of the author's Magick and the Bible will want this companion volume alongside it.
